- Wednesday, 21 November 2018
- 9:00 – 10:30 am
E307, Exhibition Center
This session will be of interest to national mapping and geospatial agencies and other oganizations currently mapping or interested in mapping lidar at the national or regional scale, including those interested in developing a new lidar program. Based on extensive experience, the session will discuss best practices in acquiring complete coverage lidar datasets. As part of this effort, the session will also include discussion of strategies for leveraging funding from interested partners (public and private), best practices in public-private partnerships, communicating with political leadership and stakeholders to gain advocacy and support, and successful governance structures for multi-agency program coordination. Discussions on successful data management practices for storage, processing, and delivery of extremely large volumes of lidar data, and programs with active efforts in deriving additional value (i.e., data analytics) from the lidar data will be informative.
