"African Action Plan on Geospatial Information for Sustainable Development"
- Wednesday, 21 November 2018
- 9:00 – 10:30 am
E308, Exhibition Center
This session introduces the African Action Plan on Geospatial Information for Sustainable Development (GI4SD) to share experiences in its development and to engage in discussion on both policy and technical issues on how to establish an effective national leadership to steer and contribute to the implementation process of the activities outlined in the Action Plan of UN-GGIM: Africa. The African Action Plan is aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda and the AU Agenda 2063. The action plan conceptualizes the overarching principle of holistic geospatial governance that strengthens the importance and significance of geospatial information for sustainable development goals in Africa. It outlines the essential actions needed with related responsibilities, timescales and costs that will steer the future implementation of the UN-GGIM: Africa. It is expected that the Action Plan will facilitate the way for new partnerships with global development partners (governmental and non-governmental).
